Have you ever tried finding old school friends or long-lost relatives online? It’s not as easy as it seems – especially as people move away, get married, or simply don’t use social media. Often it can be very difficult to reconnect. That’s why services like Atlanta-based PeopleLooker are around. Since its establishment in 2017 by The Lifetime Value Company (who are also behind BeenVerified), PeopleLooker goes much further than simple searches by providing background reports, which can help you find out more about a person. These background searches can go into a lot of detail, including court records. With PeopleLooker, you’re also able to look up phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses. Users can access PeopleLooker’s reports by getting a subscription, with rolling memberships for one month or three months.
PeopleLooker offers users four different types of searches:Â people search, property search, phone search, and email search. All of these can be accessed from the clean and simple website, making it easier to run searches straightaway. However, for new users who want to test out the search function the website can be frustrating. You’ll be shown loading screens that advertise PeopleLooker’s best features. You’ll also need to input your name and email address before being taken to the subscription payment page. This can waste quite a few minutes, so don’t bother trying unless you’re ready to pay to view your search results.
Running a people search with PeopleLooker could be the main way to find out more about a person. People searches can give you possible contact information, associated people, bankruptcy, and social media information. The latter is particularly useful as PeopleLooker searches the major social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn but also checks Foursquare, Pinterest, and more. You could also be given data about past convictions, traffic violations, and if a person’s name appears on any sex offender registries.
PeopleLooker gives you the option of monitoring your reports, so you’ll get alerts if there have been any changes. Report monitoring can be easily turned on or off from the dashboard at any time, although there’s a limit to how many reports you can monitor at once. The dashboard is impressive and will show you all your recent reports and you can easily download them as a PDF or have them sent via email.
From the PeopleLooker homepage, you can access any of the four searches. Unfortunately, you’re not able to refine your search first, so you’ll have to start with a vague search (like a person’s name and state) and then filter your answers from there.
The property search is in-depth as you’ll get data on the owner, value, deed history, and size. You’ll even get information about the number of bedrooms and bathrooms of the property and if there are any sex offenders living nearby. For anyone looking at moving into a new home, it’s well worth running the property search to try to find out more. Phone lookups can give you information about whether it’s a mobile or home number and provide the potential name of the contact when it’s available. Similarly, the email address lookup will also give you the possible name of the address owner.
The PeopleLooker website is easy to use, so you should have no problem running reports to try and find information as everything is laid out logically. We particularly like that you can easily go from running a phone lookup to a background search in just a few clicks if you want to try and find out more information about a person.
The website runs well on mobile as well, but it’s worth downloading the app for Android and iOS. The apps come with all the same features plus the ability to perform a reverse lookup for phone numbers that have called you.
Although every background search service aims to offer its users reliable results, when you’re dealing with public records you can never be completely sure there aren’t any mistakes. PeopleLooker sources its information from local, country, state, and federal records, so there is a large pool of data available. However, it is always possible that a person has removed their data already.
Like many other services, PeopleLooker can’t be used for things like assessing creditworthiness and screening for tenants as these are all covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
PeopleLooker doesn’t go in-depth about how its security works, but users can read the privacy policy on the website to find out how data is used. It’s well worth looking through as the company does share collected information with affiliates. The PeopleLooker website is secure as it utilizes SSL protocols and end-to-end encryption.
Since PeopleLooker and BeenVerified are both a part of the same company, when you want to remove your data from the service, you’ll be doing it for both. The process is fairly simple: you just need to find your record on the website and request its removal. Next, you’ll have to confirm your email address and then it will take about 24 hours for it to be removed from future searches.
PeopleLooker’s pricing system is refreshingly simple. The service doesn’t allow you to run individual reports – instead, you’ll have to sign up for one of its subscriptions. With a PeopleLooker subscription you get up to 100 background reports per month. A monthly membership costs $22.86 and will renew automatically. However, you can get a discount if you subscribe for three months instead, which works out at $54.83, the equivalent of paying just $18.28 per month.
Payment can be made by any of the major credit and debit cards as well as PayPal ir Google Play. Although PeopleLooker doesn’t offer any free trial or money-back guarantee, the service does offer a satisfaction guarantee if you aren’t happy with the results of your search.
If you need any assistance for your searches you can contact customer support seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 11:30 p.m. EST. Alternatively, you can get support via email either directly or through a form on the PeopleLooker website. You can also get in touch with the service on Facebook. Although there’s a Twitter page, PeopleLooker doesn’t respond to customer questions there. The PeopleLooker website hosts a small FAQ section and a regularly updated blog with lots of useful tips.
When it comes to looking up old friends and long-lost relatives, PeopleLooker provides you with the information you may need to reconnect. Indeed, the service gathers an impressive amount of data. That’s especially true when it comes to property searches, even telling you the number of rooms in a house. Being able to put alerts on a select number of reports for updates is a particularly neat feature. However, it’s a shame that it’s not possible to run an individual report, forcing users to sign up for a subscription instead. The good thing is that subscriptions offer users the ability to run up to 100 reports per month. So, if you only want to run an occasional report, PeopleLooker isn’t ideal. However, the service is perfect for users who may want to perform searches regularly.
